Evaluation 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I believe the media institution 'Bauer Media' would distribute my music magazine. This is due to the fact that they already own music magazines such as "KERRANG!" and "Q". However, while "KERRANG!" solely focuses on rock music and "Q" covers a wide variety of genres, my magazine surrounds the pop genre. Due to this, 'Bauer Media; would want to distribute my music magazine so that they cover a greater section of the market as they would be catering to fans of the pop genre along with the fans they already have. Also, because "KERRANG!" and "Q" are different genres to my magazine, my magazine would not cause 'Bauer Media' to be in competition with itself.

'KERRANG!" is also targeted towards a similar age group to mine as it's target audience is aged from their mid-teens to their early 20's. Due to this, Bauer Media would already have knowledge of how to effectively distribute to my target audience. For example, 'KERRANG!' now has a multi-platform approach as it's magazines are accessible online and they have a radio station.

'Bauer Media' is a large conglomerate institution who distribute over 300 different magazines to 15 countries. Their magazine distribution stretches back to 1953 which means that they have been active for over 60 years. By having my magazine being distributed by such a large institution, I believe that people who recognise the 'Bauer Media' brand would trust my magazine to be of good quality and therefore, my magazine would be able to access a very large audience.
