Avengers Marketing

I believe that marketing played a major role in the success of 'The Avengers'. This is due to the fact that the movie is the 5th highest grossing film of all time. Therefore, the audience were not all Marvel fans. A lot of the audience had already seen films related to 'The Avengers' as part of Disney's '5 year marketing plan'. The were 'Ironman', 'Captain America', "Thor' and 'Ironman 2' so the characters were already established so fans were excited to see them all collaborate. The film also featured very popular actors such as Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johanson which attracted fans of the actors. The film had cross-media marketing with Facebook. Their posts were regular but they did not spam and due to this, the audience was frequently reminded of the film but were not annoyed by the adverts. The distributer (Disney) used synergy to tie-in with brands such as Lego, Visa and Dr Pepper. This further promoted the film to allow for a greater audience.
